Class 1  OPEN LADIES

Own Choice: Two dances to be named on the Entry Form, one in strathspey and one

in reel or jig time.

 

Class 2  OPEN MENS

Own Choice: Two dances to be named on the Entry Form, one in strathspey and one

in reel or jig time.

 

Class 3  OPEN MIXED

Own Choice: Two dances to be named on the Entry Form, one in strathspey and one

in reel or jig time.

 

Class 4  LADIES UNDER 16 YEARS

Own Choice: Two dances to be named on the Entry Form, one in strathspey and one

in reel or jig time.

 

Class 5  MIXED UNDER 16 YEARS

Own Choice: Two dances to be named on the Entry Form, one in strathspey and one

in reel or jig time.

 

Class 6  DISPLAY -   

Each team will be allocated up to eight minutes from entry to exit to perform at least

three published Scottish Country Dances, one of which must show strathspey.

The team will announce it's own dances and can use any source of music.

 

It is considered advisable for teams to produce/bring their own music for this class

eg CD/Tape/Live.  If this is not possible please contact the Convenor as soon as possible.

 

This class will be judged on entertainment value through the medium of Scottish Country Dancing.  

Please note that the Adjudicator(s) will be seated with the audience for this class only.

No adjudication sheets will be issued.

 

The winning team will be asked to demonstrate their display at the Evening Dance.

 

THE FOLLOWING TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED

 

1.    THE MAURICE COOPER TROPHY will be awarded to the team with the highest score in Classes 1 to 5 in the Festival.

 

2.     THE EDITH SPENCER TROPHY will be awarded for the best performance in Class 1.

 

3.     THE STANLEY HUTCHINSON TROPHY will be awarded for the best performance in Class 3.

 

4.     CHRIS BLAIR TROPHIES will be awarded for the best performances in Class 4 and Class 5.

 

5.     THE MABEL ELLISON TROPHY will be awarded for the best performance in the Display Class

 

Trophies will become the responsibility of the Winners after they have signed an undertaking to be responsible for their safe keeping and their return to the Festival Convenor, free of cost, cleaned and in good condition, not later than 31st December 2011.
